PANAJI:

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has slammed the government's decision to fill some 900-odd contractual positions through the Goa State Human Resource Development Corporation (GSHRDC) a joke on Goa's youth and an attempt to deflect the criticism faced in the wake of high unemployment and lack of jobs for youth in the State.

Addressing a press conference AAP leaders Prof Ramrao Wagh, Valmiki Naik and others also demanded that the Rs 50 per application form per position sought to be charged be immediately withdrawn.

Prof Wagh said, as has been the past experience at least 30,000 youth are expected to apply, many of them for multiple positions simultaneously.

"The government will easily pocket a whopping Rs 40-lakh plus just selling the application forms. The Rs 50 fee per form must be done away with," Prof Wagh said.

The AAP leaders also demanded that the contractual nature of the positions advertised be done away with and recruitment be carried out on regular basis for the departments where the selected candidates are to be deployed.
