The three persons booked by the Fatorda police in an assault case that took place on November 25 have claimed that the police have conveniently avoided registering a case of accident against the complainant in the case.
In fact, the trio Jaydeep Anil Desai, Akhil Anil Desai and Vivek Bandekar have now claimed that the police have refused to register their complaint of motor vehicle accident against Clifford Nunes, alleging political pressure.
Based on a complaint from Clifford Nunes, a resident of Caranzalem, the Fatorda police had registered an offence against Jaydeep, Akhil and Vivek for wrongfully restraining the complaint by intentionally dashing the four-wheeler before assaulting him and his friend causing bodily injuries.
Addressing the media, Jaydeep along with his lawyer said the Fatorda police have acted on political pressure from a Minister not to register their complaint against Nunes. He claimed the police misclassified the incident as an assault case when it was actually an accident.
“The vehicle carrying the complainant had allegedly entered in a ‘no entry’ road resulting in the accident. But, the Fatorda police are not ready to take cognisance of the accident. Instead, the police have booked the three of us for assault,” Jaydeep stated.
His lawyer demanded to know why the Fatorda police are reluctant to register a case of accident against Nunes till date.
“But even assuming that Nunes has claimed he was allegedly assaulted in the incident, we will handle the matter in the court. But, why is the Fatorda police reluctant to register the case under the Motor Vehicle Act against Nunes,” the lawyer stated, while threatening to knock the doors of the Court for justice.
