Acting on directives of the High Court, 18 tourism structures were unsealed at Agonda on Saturday.

The 18 tourism establishment were unsealed on Saturday in the presence of Canacona Deputy Collector Madhu Narvekar, while five tourism structures had been unsealed earlier.

A total of 63 beachside establishments had been sealed at Agonda last month and with the unsealing of 23 establishments, 40 establishments continue to be sealed for the 2024-25 tourism season which is now at its fag end.

According to sources, the 23 tourism establishments were unsealed after necessary licences and permits were submitted to the High Court.

On Saturday, the team led by Canacona Dy Collector Madhu Narvekar went to the southern side of Agonda beach and along with Agonda Panchayat Secretary Amol K Naik Gaunkar, unsealed the 18 establishments, mostly comprising resorts.

Teams from the electricity department and PWD (Water-Supply) were also directed to re-connect the disconnected meters to restore the power and water supply to all the unsealed tourism structures.

Following another High Court order, five tourism establishments were earlier unsealed and power/water supply was restored on two different days.

The affected parties have reportedly submitted all their documentations/permits to get their structures unsealed by the court. However, a number of structures have no permissions/permits and their owners have neither approached the court nor the GCZMA in the matter. Many of them have completely dismantled and removed their structures restoring the land to its original state.
