In a significant development, residents of Dharbandora have expressed their support for the proposed Kajumal-Tatodi Dam, which is set to be built in areas known for abundant rainfall and water resources.

The community gathering, held at Rajendra Naik’s Rasraj Farms, saw the participation of around forty landowners whose properties will be impacted by the dam project. Incidentally, Naik has given maximum land for the dam.

The meeting was chaired by Subhash A Shirodkar, the Minister for Water Resources, and Ganesh Gaonkar, local MLA and Chairman of the Goa Tourism Development Corporation.

Key officials from the the Water Resources Department (WRD), including Dilip Naik, Senior Engineer, Lilesh Khandeparker, Executive Engineer, and Damodar Prabhu Desai, Assistant Engineer, addressed concerns and queries from the residents.

Shirodkar reassured the affected residents of the government’s commitment to addressing their grievances.

He pledged support for housing, construction of retaining walls, and other necessary infrastructure in the affected areas.

A strategic plan has been devised to ensure that all affected landowners receive fair compensation and relief from the government upon completion of requisite procedures and formalities.

The proposed timeline aims to complete the dam construction by December 2025, with cooperation from all stakeholders involved.

The State government, in collaboration with the WRD, is embarking on an initiative to enhance water availability and conservation in the State.

As part of this effort, new sites for dam construction are being identified to increase water storage capacity in the State.
