The Minority Department of the All India Congress Committee on Monday issued an order dissolving all state, district and block committees of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect.

“The process of formation of new committees will begin soon,” states the letter issued by AICC leader Nadeem Javed.

It may be recalled that on November 5 last year, GPCC leader Urfan Mulla had resigned from the post of the chairman of the Minority Cell of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee and as GPCC spokesperson citing lack of organization, direction and leadership within the party.

In a strongly worded letter addressed to AICC President Sonia Gandhi, Mulla had written, “I am not happy with the functioning of the party as there is no unity among senior leaders, who are fighting only for their personal gains. Nobody is bothered about the party and about minority issues. We are just used as tissue paper and vote banks.”

The latest development is believed to be an outcome of these charges laid by the outgoing Minority Cell chairman of GPCC.

Akash, the coordinator of Goa Congress Minority Department is scheduled to arrive in Goa on January 10 for a two-day visit to finalise the new committee for the cell.
