AITD win ‘Student Project of the Year’ Award at FIST Awards

PANAJI:  A proud moment for Goa as students from Agnel Institute of Technology and Design (AITD) in Assagao secured the prestigious ‘Student Project of the Year’ award at the FIST Awards 2024, organised by the Fire and Security Association of India (FSAI) on 22nd August in Mumbai.

The award-winning team—comprising Alister Hosamani, Kristopher Fernandes, Vaibhavi Parab, and Kajal Tak—impressed the jury with their innovative project titled “Real-time Semi-Occluded Fire Detection and Evacuation Route Generation: Leveraging Instance Segmentation for Damage Estimation,” guided by Assistant Professor Ashish Narvekar. Their project aims to enhance fire detection, particularly in situations where fires are partially obscured, using instance segmentation technology. It includes a dynamic evacuation route generator for safe navigation during emergencies, even in low visibility, and automates real-time damage estimation to streamline  insurance claims.
