Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira has vowed to stand with the people in their fight to protect Goa’s forests, hills, and no-development zones from external threats. Addressing concerned residents of Ecoxim, Ferreira reassured them that he has no interest in real estate and is committed to defending the State’s sacred land resources.

“You have nothing to fear. I am not a real estate agent or broker. I stand with you and will fight to save our land,” Ferreira declared, responding to appeals from locals seeking his help to preserve their hills and forests.

Referring to two ongoing cases in the area, Ferreira noted that the legal battle concerning fashion designer Tarun Tehlani’s project is still sub judice, while Mohit Agarwal’s land conversion issue is under review.

Ferreira has requested all relevant documents regarding Agarwal’s case to take it up with the authorities.

“We will submit a representation to the government, urging them to reverse the land conversion. If the government fails to act, I will personally take up the legal fight to challenge it,” he said.

Ferreira criticized the current government’s handling of land resources, remarking, “Even the Portuguese government respected our land. Everything was considered sacred, but now it is being destroyed by this government.”
