Allegations made by Ex-Min Madkaikar are false: BJP

Panaji: BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh has dismissed bribery allegations levied  by former minister and party leader Pandurang Madkaikar as "false and baseless."

Speaking to the media this afternoon, during a press conference, Singh clarified that an inquiry has been initiated by the party regarding the allegations.

"All allegations made by Pandurang Madkaikar are false, and there is no truth in them," Singh said, stressing that the accusations would be thoroughly investigated.

Last week, Madkaikar claimed that he had paid a bribe of Rs 15 to 20 lakh to the personal assistant of a minister to process a file. He detailed the incident, saying, "I sent my manager to meet the minister. He was told to meet the PA, who directly demanded Rs 15 to 20 lakh." Madkaikar added, "I was a minister myself, so I know the proper procedures in the department," he said.

He had accused ministers in the ruling BJP government of being involved in corrupt practices. Speaking to the media, he said, "Ministers are busy counting money. I will tell you frankly, it's not corruption, it's loot. There is rampant loot happening in Goa."
