MLA claims brass statue is first of its kind in the State

A new bronze statue of Bharat Ratna Bhimrao Ambedkar was installed at Zuarinagar on Sunday evening.
The statue was inaugurated by Cortalim MLA Anton Vas in the presence of Sancoale Sarpanch Rohini Toraskar, members of Goa BJP Karnataka cell, members of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial Youth Association, members of Jai Bhim Youth Association, Sancoale panch members and other residents.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Vas said the previous statue was in bad shape.
“Pieces of the statue were falling off and it sent a wrong message to the people. Various committees approached me and stressed on the need to replace the statue and carry out the beautification,” said Vas.
“I thought of installing a new brass statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar and immediately agreed to the request of the committee members. We have now installed a new bronze statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar in Zuarinagar. I feel that this is the only brass statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar across the State because we have seen many statues of Ambedkar but I doubt if any of them are made of brass,” said Vas.
