Anjuna Police arrests 3 for gambling at Vagator beach

In a swift operation on November 30, the Anjuna Police apprehended three individuals allegedly involved in illegal gambling activities at Vagator beach.

Acting on a complaint filed by Police Sub-Inspector Saish Madhu Kinlekar, the police conducted the raid between 2.05 pm and 3.15 pm, catching the accused red-handed while engaging in a gambling game known as ‘Lal Kala’.

The accused have been identified as Prakash Ganapat Dangi (62), a resident of Khorlim, Mapusa; Waman Shankar Reddy (45) from Surchivadi, Dodamarag, Sindhudurg, Maharashtra; and Deepak Bacharam Redekar (34) of Jeromewada, Xelpem, Duler, Mapusa.

During the operation, authorities seized a total of Rs 11,050 in cash and other gambling paraphernalia.

The activities were being conducted in an open public space, contravening legal provisions.

Anjuna Police confirmed that an investigation is underway, led by PSI Saish Kinlekar, to further probe the matter and determine any additional involvement. The accused are expected to face charges under the applicable sections of the Goa Gambling Act.

The police have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on illegal gambling in the region and urged the public to report such activities to help maintain law and order.
