Assamese woman held for gold theft at Cortalim house

Verna police has on Wednesday arrested a lady Harsika a resident of Cortalim but a native of Assam on charges of stealing gold ornaments worth Rs 70,000 from the room of a house in Cortalim.

Sources in Verna police said that the incident occurred between July 21 and 29

"We got a complaint of Priyanka Singh, a resident of Vollant Cortalim, but a native of Uttar Pradesh to the effect that between July 21 and 29, at Vollant Cortalim, the accused person namely Harsika, a resident of Cortalim but a native of Assam entered inside the her room and committed theft of gold ornament i:e 04 gold finger rings and 01 gold pair of earrings, all worth Rs 70,000/- approximately which was kept in the cupboard. During the investigation the accused lady was arrested for the crime and recovery of the stolen property is under process," said the source.

Verna police have registered a case under sections 305 of BNSS and PSI Pramila Fernandes is carrying out further investigation under the supervision of PI Melson Colaco under the guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
