An attempt was made by officials of the Animal Husbandry and Gau Rakshaks to tame the aggressive buffalo with tranquilizer shots, but in vain.
Given the situation, Margao Deputy Collector, Ramesh Gaonkar said he would coordinate with the authorities on Friday to ensure that the animal is tamed and impounded away to a gaushala.
Sources said Animal Husbandry officials as well as fire brigade camped at the place with the hope of taming the animal with tranquilizers, but the officials did not evoke success.
Police sources informed that a couple of tranquilizer shots were fired at the well-built buffalo, but it had no effect on the animal. Police said the animal has managed to escape after an attempt was made to tame with tranquilizer shots.
Deputy Ramesh Gaonkar said he would keep the district Collector posted on the issue and coordinate with officials of the Animal Husbandry to ensure the animal is tamed and taken away to a gaushala.
