Status on the proposal to repair and renovate the South Goa Administrator of Comunidades building; protection of the books and documents left behind in the building, besides streamlining the process to demolish illegal structures on comunidade bodies, dominated a meeting between the components of South Goa comunidades and the South Goa district collector, Egna Cleetus, on Wednesday.
The meeting was called by the district collector to review the decisions taken at the meeting held in August last year. South Goa Administrator of Comunidades Ganesh Barve, along with other officials, attended the meeting at the South district Collectorate on Wednesday evening.
With the monsoons fast approaching, the meeting reviewed the decision on the repairs and renovation of the Administrator of Comunidades building. The meeting was informed that the PWD had floated a tender last year, but there were no takers for the job. It was decided to request the PWD to float a fresh tender.
Given that important documents and records are still left behind in the Administrator of Comunidade building, components requested the Collector to take stock of the state of the records with the monsoons fast approaching. Administrator Ganesh Barve assured the components that he would carry out an inspection of the records.
Components demanded the streamlining of the process for the demolition of illegal constructions on Comunidade land. They demanded that the flying squads should respond to information within an hour and issue a stop work order to the parties.
As far as the manpower shortage is concerned, the components were informed that the Administrator has moved the government to appoint additional staff through the Human Resources Development Corporation in view of the fact that some of the employees have retired and are due to retire on superannuation.
The collector assured the delegation of comunidade components that grievance meetings would be revived on the first Thursday of the month. The Collector also assured the components that the meetings between the components and the district administration would be held every two months.
