Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday announced that the Ayush Hospital, graduate and post-graduate ayurvedic institute will start in Pernem from the next academic year.
Speaking at the two-day AUGUSTCON at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on Saturday, the Chief Minister said the Ayush hospital, graduate and post-graduate college at Pernem will be inaugurated around October-November this year.
He said the opening of the Ayush hospital, besides the graduate and post-graduate college at Pernem will give a further boost to Ayurveda in the State.
An ayurveda by profession, the Chief Minister said that ayurveda has given him the boost to work in his social life. “Ayurveda has taken me from a MLA to the position of Chief Minister. I can say that ayurveda doctors can also reach up to this height. They will not lag behind in their sphere of activity,” he said.
Saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken yoga and ayurveda to the international level, Sawant said ayurveda has received a big boost with Modi at the helm as the country’s Prime Minister.
“After observing International Yoga Day in 2014 by the Prime Minister, yoga and ayurveda has now reached almost 127 countries across the globe,” he said, adding that the ayurveda and wellness centres at the primary health centres have come as a boon to the people of the country.
