PORVORIM:
Porvorim police have arrested Narendra Jivappa Gaude (25) from Hukkeri-Belagavi on charges of stealing energy meters from the open premises of the electricity department in Porvorim.
According to Porvorim police, Electricity Department Assistant Engineer (sub division II) had filed a police complaint stating that some unknown person had entered into the open premises of Electricity department Sub Division II sometime prior to September 23 and had decamped with energy meters worth Rs 7,000.
Acting on the complaint, Porvorim Police Inspector Rahul Parab formed a team consisting of PSI Mandar Parab, PSI Arun Shirodkar, Head Constable Vinay Srivastava and Police Constable Akash Navelkar.
The police team traced the accused in Belgaum and recovered the stolen property from him. A scooter which is suspected to be stolen from Maharashtra was also seized from him.
Police presented the accused before the Judicial Magistrate First Class at Mapusa and he was remanded to custody for two days.
PSI Shirodkar is conducting further investigation under the supervision of PI Rahul Parab, DySP Viswesh Karpe and SP North Akshat Kaushal.
