Panaji: The Betalbatim Gram Sabha held a special meeting to discuss concerns over large housing projects in the area. During the meeting, the panchayat also resolved to appeal to the government to create a new Regional Plan for Goa, which would address local issues and better reflect the needs of the people of the state.
Moreover, Salcete BDO, Pallavi, explained that while the gram sabha cannot officially oppose mega projects, it can propose actions to the government based on locals concerns.
The meeting saw heated discussions between local residents and the panchayat body, focusing on the impact of these mega projects, waste management, and rising crime rates in the village.
