Bhutani project: Govt directs MPDA to verify permissions

 Panaji: Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vishwajit Rane has instructed the Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA) to verify the documents and permissions related to the Bhutani project at Sancoale. 


In his social media post, the minister claimed that no permission for hill cutting was granted for the project while assuring appropriate action including the possibility of revoking permissions. 


"We have instructed the MPDA to conduct a thorough verification of all details regarding the representations received about the Bhutani Project in Sancoale. A show cause notice will be accordingly be issued to the project proponent, directions have been issued to the Member Secretary of MPDA and subsequently necessary action shall be taken, including decision regarding revocation of permission," he stated adding, 

"No hill-cutting permissions have been granted to Bhutani by the TCP Department as yet."


Calangute MLA Michael Lobo raised concerns about large-scale projects like Bhutani, stating that Goa is already facing shortages of water and electricity. 


He warned that such projects could alter Goa's landscape seeking the need to assess the carrying capacity, Lobo stated he plans to meet TCP Minister on the issues.
