BICHOLIM
Stating that the losses in Bicholim taluka on account of cyclone Tauktae have been estimated at Rs 2 crore, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant Wednesday directed all government officials to immediately submit a report of losses faced by residents in the taluka and to expedite compensation.
Sawant also informed that emergency funds would be provided from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to the affected people, till the official compensation procedures are finalised.
Sawant was speaking while chairing a meet at the office of the Bicholim deputy collector to review the losses sustained by people of Bicholim taluka.
Speaker Rajesh Patnekar, Bicholim Deputy Collector Deepak Vaingankar, Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit, Fire Station Officer Shripad Gawas, Police Inspector Mahesh Gadekar and officials from the power, agriculture, block development offices were also present at the meeting.
The chief minister also directed officials to submit all details of losses and to ensure that no application is left pending by them.
Electricity department officials informed the chief minister that losses to electrical equipment in Bicholim taluka are estimated at Rs 60 lakh, other officials estimated the damages to houses (Rs 50 lakh), crops (Rs 50 lakh) and other losses (Rs 40 lakh).
Sawant commended the Bicholim fire services under the guidance of fire officer Shripad Gawas and the electricity department for working overtime and under harsh weather and difficult circumstances to clear the obstacles and to restore services.
He also directed the agriculture officers to prepare and submit a detailed report of all losses sustained by farmers and to compensate them. He also assured to provide a vehicle to the agriculture department office in Bicholim.
The chief minister and Speaker Rajesh Patnekar later inspected the damaged electricity poles and houses in Mulgao in the presence of Mulgao Sarpanch Gajanan Mandrekar and some locals.
Patnekar gave provided detailed information on losses in the Bicholim constituency and requested the chief minister for speedy financial assistance to the affected families.
