The Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG), in collaboration with Ravindra Bhavan in Margao and Ravindra Bhavan in Sanquelim, will commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of five prominent Tiatr and Khell-Tiatr personalities—Minguel Rod, Vincent de Saligao, Kamat de Assolna, Antonio Moraes, and Mussolini Vales de Menezes.
The celebrations will take place on March 22 at Pai Tiatrist Auditorium, Ravindra Bhavan in Margao, and on March 23 at Ravindra Bhavan in Sanquelim, both events starting at 5:00 pm.
In Margao, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat will be the chief guest, with BJP State President Damu Naik as the guest of honour. The event in Sanquelim will have Chief Minister Pramod Sawant as the chief guest, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude as the guest of honour, and Ravindra Bhavan in Sanquelim Vice Chairman Dattaram Chimulkar as a special invitee.
To mark the occasion, TAG will present a Konkani musical show featuring some of the most celebrated songs of the late Tiatr artistes. Renowned Tiatr performers, including Wilson-Sharon Mazarello, Platilda, Michael de Benaulim, Edwin D’Costa, Sidhanath Buyao, Neves Oliveira, Marcus Vaz, Aki Brown, Rishona, and Rihanna, will take the stage. The live band will be led by musician Normano Cardozo and his Brigade.
The event aims to honour the contribution of these legendary Tiatr artistes and celebrate Goa’s rich theatrical heritage.
