The Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) has slammed both the Congress and the BJP for their failure in protecting the interests of Goa in the Mhadei issue, and termed both the parties as dealers of Mhadei.

Addressing reporters in Panaji on Thursday, RGP chief Manoj Parab pointed to the presence of only three representatives from Goa at the PRAWAH meet in Bangalore as opposed to the thirty representatives from Karnataka.

"This has only proven that the State BJP government is least interested in protecting Goa's interests on Mhadei even though a Congress government is ruling in Karnataka," Parab said while opining that the Central BJP leadership gives more preference to Karnataka as it has 28 MPs as opposed to Goa's 2.

"Similarly, the Goa Congress leadership has now gone quiet on the Mhadei issue after their party government came to power in Karnataka," Parab pointed out.

"When BJP was ruling in Karnataka the Congress was raking up the Mhadei issue time and again but now that their party is in power in Karnataka they are silent," Parab said while also lambasting Congress MP Viriato Fernandes' statement that NGOs from Karnataka have approached him for support.

"If it is so, then why Viriato is not going to Karnataka and questioning the Karnataka government on the Mhadei issue," Parab posed.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Viresh Borkar said that he had demanded that the house committee formed on Mhadei should visit the site at Kalasa-Bhandura to ascertain the ground reality as the work on the project is undertaken by Karnataka.

"The WRD minister assured that he would place the demand before PRAWAH but till date no inspection of the disputed site is done," Borkar stated and questioned the very purpose of formation of PRAWAH if it cannot ensure a site inspection of Kalsa-Bhandura.
