PANAJI: The BJP Goa Unit has sharply criticized the Congress leadership, accusing them of using “threatening language” as senior party figures including the Gandhi family have come under scrutiny in the ongoing National Herald investigation.
Addressing a press conference at party headquarters today, BJP State President Damu Naik alleged that the Congress is attempting to divert attention from the legal process and mislead the public, rather than cooperating with the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
"Congress is adopting intimidating tone. No political party can hide behind political activities to justify money laundering. The Gandhis must face the law instead of playing the victim card,” he said.
The ED has summoned Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in connection with an alleged Rs 2,500 crore misappropriation case, and has been questioning Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law, Robert Vadra, for the third consecutive day.
The case, originally filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in a Delhi court, revolves around the acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd (AJL) by Young Indian Ltd (YIL)—a firm controlled by the Gandhis. AJL had received an interest-free loan of Rs 90.25 crore from the Congress, which was later taken over by YIL. This move allegedly resulted in the transfer of real estate assets worth Rs 2,500 crore to the Gandhis without any repayment.
