PANAJI: The Directorate of Agriculture will host the upcoming Buyer-Seller Meet 2024 on Nov 30-Dec 1 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Margao.
The two-day event aims to bring together organic farmers and buyers on a single platform, facilitating direct business discussions and promoting organic produce. Around 800 farmers are expected to participate.
This initiative is organized under the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY), a central government scheme promoting organic and natural farming practices.
Farmers practising organic cultivation are encouraged to participate in this event to network with buyers, NGOs, and wholesale traders. The meet will also feature 60 stalls that will showcase organic and value-added products, along with opportunities for experience sharing on topics like digital marketing, e-commerce, and conservation of biodiversity.
“Farmers in Goa are predominantly small-scale, with many shifting to organic cultivation for better market value and health-conscious consumers. Organic farming not only reduces the cost of inputs but also aligns with global trends," Agriculture Director Sandeep Fal Dessai.
To further boost marketing, the department is developing an e-platform under the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC). This platform will support farmers in reaching broader markets and addressing the challenges of organic produce sales.
