In a political twist to the ongoing controversy surrounding Subhash Velingkar’s remarks against ‘Goencho Saib’, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has come forward with strong allegations, claiming that there is a conspiracy behind comments made by the former RSS chief.

Lobo’s remarks have sparked a fresh controversy, particularly as he linked Velingkar’s statements to larger political maneuvers that aim to distract public attention from major controversies over land deals in the State.

He alleged that Velingkar’s comments were part of a larger conspiracy to divert attention from critical issues plaguing the State, particularly major controversies over land deals involving Bhutani, Zuari, etc.

The Calangute MLA noted that a sudden surge of inflammatory messages and divisive scripts on social media is contributing to the unrest. He warned that this was part of a broader conspiracy aimed at dividing Goa’s communities.

“Hindus and Christians have lived together harmoniously for years. Why disturb that peace now? People should not fall into this trap. There is someone behind this, orchestrating a larger plot,” Lobo said.

Lobo expressed surprise that despite Velingkar’s controversial comments, he has not yet been arrested.

“There are clear directives from the High Court and Supreme Court about how police should act in such cases, but no action has been taken yet,” Lobo said.

He alleged that the uproar surrounding Velingkar’s remarks was a deliberate tactic to shift focus away from the land issues plaguing the State.

Lobo also referred to recent protests against hill-cutting in Nerul, which have since died down, claiming it as just another example of how important issues are being sidelined.

“If the police had taken swift action against Velingkar’s remarks, we wouldn’t have reached this stage of division and unrest,” he concluded, stressing that all Goans, regardless of religion, should come together for the upcoming Exposition of the Relics of St Francis Xavier.
