In fact, the MP, who got a sizeable vote margin from Curtorim represented by Independent MLA Reginaldo Lourenco, in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, underscored the need to end the BJP rule in Curtorim. “The BJP rule must end in Curtorim. We have to uproot the BJP root from Curtorim,” he thundered at the interactive session attended by party district President Savio D’Silva, Curtorim ZP member Michele Rebello, Block president Mila Fernandes, party workers Moreno Rebello, Joseph Vaz, Pradip Naik and others.
Saying that Curtorim has been the granary of Goa, the MP underlined the need to restore back the glory of Curtorim. The people raised a host of issues plaguing the villages in the constituency with a plea to the MP to address the issues.
The Curtorim Block Congress Committee submitted a memorandum demanding a central legislation to protect Goa’s unique identity, culture and land.
The memorandum called for the exact status of the Leprosy land in survey number 161/2 (part), 158/1 & 157/1 since there exists severe ambiguity on the usage of that land by the Government of Goa, concerning this we would like to propose a concerned project under MPLAD funds for proper utilisation of that land that would benefit the people of Curtorim constituency.
“The road situated from Ramnagri situated in Sao Jose de Areal to Maina-Curtorim market must be closed for heavy vehicle transportation to reduce the risk of severe fatal accidents,” the memorandum added.
The Congress Block Committee also drew attention of the MP to the recent incident of desecration of the cross situated in Gogalli Maina-Curtorim for the third time after being repeatedly being repaired in a span of one week.
