MARGAO
The ESI hospital, Margao has further seen an improvement in the situation on Wednesday with the Covid hospital playing host to only 75 patients.
The 235-bedded hospital has around 160 vacant beds, with the number of patients admitted in the hospital decreasing by the day.
ESI hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Vishwajit Faldesai informed that the hospital saw only 12 admissions in the last 24 hours and discharged around 16 patients during the same period.
“The hospital had around 75 patients as on Wednesday evening”, he added.
A glance at the bulletin shows that of the total 75 patients undergoing treatment in the hospital, 35 patients are on oxygen, while seven patients on Remdesivir.
This is the first time during second wave that the number of patients has come down to 75, indicating the improvement in the situation.
The ESI hospital, which was shut in mid-December last year, was opened in April after a surge in the number of cases in the state. While the ESI hospital was declared as step down facility for want of ICU unit, the hospital, however, treated even serious patients during the second wave for want of beds in other COVID hospitals.
