VALPOI
The Valpoi Community Health Centre (CHC) has begun a special campaign to test for filariasis at Sayyadwada in Valpoi.
A CHC medical team has been collecting blood samples at night and 150 such samples have been sent for tests.
CHC Medical Officer Dr Sumitra Gawas, Health Inspector Gajanan Parsekar, staff Viraj Sawant, Rama Gavas, Harish Gavas, Premnath Gavkar Shailesh Gavkar have been providing detailed information to people on ways to control filariasis. Local Councillor Sarfaraz Syed was also present during this campaign.
Given the dense population and the sizeable number of migrants in Sayyadwada, the CHC decided to begin this campaign in the area.
When contacted, Dr Sumitra Gawas said blood samples to test for filariasis are collected only at night and added that this campaign would be extended to other parts of Sattari in the near future.
