The decade-and-half year-long delayed Panchayat Ghar project dominated the proceedings of the gram sabha of the village panchayat of Chinchinim on Sunday.
The issue figured at the gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Frank Viegas with members demanding to know the fate of the Panchayat Ghar project, which has been pending financial approval, with the file awaiting clearance from the Chief Minister of Goa.
The Sarpanch, along with the members of the panchayat, highlighted the importance of the Panchayat Ghar for the local community, stressing that the project is crucial for the development and welfare of the area.
Members pointed out that the file has been pending for financial approval, with members making a fervent plea to the Chief Minister to expedite the process, as the project is essential for improving the infrastructure and services provided by the panchayat.
The gram sabha also discussed the issue of protection for the bundh (embankment) in the jurisdiction of the panchayat. Members expressed concern over the safety and maintenance of the bundh, which is vital for the protection of agricultural land and properties in the area. The panchayat has decided to take necessary steps to ensure the bundh’s protection and to forward the proposal to the concerned authorities.
