Chinchinim students promote green living through art

School students engaged in painting a bus stop at Chinchinim as part of the initiative green village, healthy village.

In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of a clean, green environment and promote a healthy lifestyle, the Village Panchayat of Chinchinim-Deussua organised a unique concept involving school students, with focus on two vital themes: “Green Village, a Healthy Village” and “No Tobacco, No Smoking, No Alcohol, and Stop Drug Abuse & Addiction".

Students from St. Mary's of the Angels Convent High School, Chinchinim under the guidance of Sr Flavia, Headmistress showcased their artistic talents in a beautiful series of paintings centered on the theme of a Green Village a healthy village. Their vibrant artwork highlighted the significance of a sustainable, eco-friendly environment in ensuring the well-being of the community. The paintings depicted lush landscapes, clean surroundings, and the positive impact of nature on health.

Meanwhile, students from Mount Mary Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim under the guidance of Principal Melba Vas focused on raising awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco, smoking, alcohol, and drugs. Their powerful, thought-provoking artwork sent a clear message to the youth about the importance of living a life free from substance abuse. The paintings conveyed the critical message of promoting a healthy and drug-free lifestyle for a better future.

Chinchinim Sarpanch Frank Viegas said the Village Panchayat’s initiative, in collaboration with the schools, aims to inspire and empower the younger generation to take responsibility for their health, the environment, and the community’s well-being. The event marks a significant step towards fostering a sustainable and healthy future for the villagers and encourages youth involvement in community-driven efforts for positive change.

“We are immensely proud of our students’ creativity and passion. Their artwork is a reminder to all of us of the importance of living healthily and sustainably,” Frank said, adding “The message to our youth is clear make choices that ensure a brighter, healthier future for everyone.”
