MARGAO: In an initiative to empower women and promote local culinary skills, the Village Panchayat of Chinchinim-Deussua, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Margao Sunrise, hosted a short-term training program focused on masala making.
The workshop, held at the local community center, attracted a diverse group of women eager to learn the art of creating traditional masalas. Participants were guided by resource person Jyothi Naik who shared techniques for blending spices and crafting authentic flavors that reflect the rich culinary heritage of the region.
“This workshop not only aims to enhance culinary skills but also encourages women to explore entrepreneurship opportunities in food production,” said Frank Viegas Sarpanch of the Village Panchayat.
The Rotary Club of Margao Sunrise provided essential resources and support, highlighting their commitment to community development. “Empowering women through skills training is a priority for us, and we are delighted to partner with the panchayat for this initiative,” stated Flory Gracias.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing enthusiasm for the knowledge gained and the potential to start their own masala businesses. The workshop concluded with a hands-on session, allowing attendees to create their own unique spice blends.
