Amid growing concerns over rapid and unchecked construction activity in the villages of Moira, Nachinola and Aldona, local environmental group Goa Green Brigade has called for a public meeting to address the issue.
The meeting is scheduled to be held in Moira on Tuesday at 5 pm. Villagers have raised the alarm over the destruction of fields and hills in the region, with several constructions allegedly flouting local laws.
Residents fear irreversible damage to the landscape and environment if urgent steps are not taken.
Acknowledging these concerns, Avertino Miranda, Coordinator of Goa Green Brigade, has issued a call to action titled “Chol Ya Moira” (Let’s Go to Moira).
“Many concerned citizens have reached out, distressed by the blatant destruction of our pristine land. This meeting aims to bring together villagers of Moira, Aldona and Nachinola to discuss the ongoing destruction and how we, as citizens, can take concrete action to protect our villages,” said Miranda.
Those interested in participating are requested to register by sending their name, address and WhatsApp number via text message to 9823073265.
The meeting is expected to serve as a platform for community members to voice their concerns, share ideas and formulate strategies to safeguard the environmental and cultural heritage of the Bardez villages.
