The body of Darshan Narvekar, a Class 5 student, who was swept away in a creek due to heavy currents last evening, was found in Khandepar today after an intense search operation.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when Darshan was returning home from tuition along with a group of children, including his sister.
Heavy rainfall had caused the creek to overflow, and Darshan was believed to have been swept away by the strong currents.
Ponda police along with fire personnel had begun a search operation last night at 7:30 PM.
Today the Coast Guard divers joined the search operation.
