CM Challenges Opposition MP; Congress Responds with Counter Challenge

In a fiery exchange of challenges, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant threw down the gauntlet at Congress South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha during the inauguration of the BJP South Goa election office in Margao on Tuesday. Sawant demanded accountability, stating, "My open challenge for the Congress MP to show what he has done for South Goa and Goa. Let him give his report card what project he has brought in his constituency. And we will give our report card how the BJP has spent Rs 30,000 crore in infrastructure development in Goa in the last 10 years”, he said.

Responding to the challenge, MP Francisco Sardinha presented his report card on development works, asserting, “My Report Card is with the people of South Goa. I have exhausted all my funds. I have done works in every village in South Goa.” He also invited Chief Minister Sawant to inaugurate a completed cemetery project on February 17th.

Congress President Amit Patkar turned the tables, issuing an open challenge to the Chief Minister. Patkar demanded a comprehensive report card from the BJP Government on 24 core issues concerning the people of Goa.

Patkar questioned the efficacy of the BJP-led government, highlighting issues such as the scrapping of three linear projects, withdrawal of DPR of the Kalsa Bhandura Project, and the status of investigations into corruption cases and mysterious death of Siddhi Naik.

Patkar further criticised the government's handling of funds, citing pending electricity bill recoveries and uncollected dues from big companies. He also raised concerns about inadequate facilities at South Goa District Hospital and corruption in various policies.
