Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has launched his pet 'Swayampurna Goem' governance model afresh and held wide-ranging interactions with government officers (Swayampurna Mitras), sarpanchas and panchayat members.
Sawant and the ruling party leadership believe the first avtaar of 'Swayampurna Goem' launched in October 2020 was one of the major factors that helped it nullify the anti-incumbency factor in the recent assembly elections.
Under the programme, designated villages are visited by the establishment comprising key lower and middle-level bureaucrats, and locally viable sectors are pushed to ensure self-sufficiency. The programme pursues short, medium and long term goals simultaneously and strives to involve the community.
In his interactions, Sawant praised the sarpanchas and the 'Swayampurna Mitras', whose efforts helped the success of the programme to date.
The programme will be expanded to also cover urban areas adding that the ultimate goal was to make Goa self-sufficient in every sector.
Sawant said the entire system was working well with innovative ideas and hard work. It also involves the 'government at your door-step' initiative coined by Sawant and styled in the local language 'sarkar tumchya dari'.
