Even as Benaulim villagers have not lost hopes that the western bypass passing through the village will be built on stilts, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has firmly ruled out the possibility of doing a rethink on the construction of the bypass.
In fact, the Chief Minister has informed there will be no rethink on the western bypass, asserting that the bypass passing through Benaulim village will not be built on stilts. He further said the authorities will put measures in place along the bypass alignment for the quick drainage of the rain water during the monsoons.
That the government has no plan to accede to the demands of Benaulim villagers and farmers for the construction of the bypass on stilts became evident during the budget speech of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on the floor of the House last month. While announcing a slew of road projects on the National highway, the Chief Minister made no mention of construction of the western bypass passing through Benaulim on stilts.
