PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today directed authorities to speed up establishment of special fast-track courts to handle rape cases as well as those under POCSO Acts.
During a high-level meeting at the Mantralaya, Sawant discussed key priorities for the upcoming State Budget 2025 and as well as the agenda of the recently held 27th Western Zonal Council meet in Pune.
In a post on ‘X’, CM said that accelerating the implementation of special fast courts for swift disposal of cases like rape and those under POCSO Act.
The meeting also discussed about enhancing 112 Emergency Response Support System to reduce response times across the state.
Sawant also addressed banking accessibility, aiming to ensure that every village has a bank branch within a 3 km radius. Affordable housing was another priority, with instructions to identify and remove illegal slums and promote planned urban development.
The meeting also highlighted the need for better urban planning, with discussions on revising Panaji's Master Plan and drafting new plans for Vasco, Margao, and Mapusa. Additionally, the government focused on strategies to tackle malnutrition in rural areas and reduce school dropout rates.
Sawant further emphasized the importance of learning from successful governance practices in other states. The meeting concluded with a review of the current budget's progress and preparations for the next one.
