CM Sawant launches 'Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan' to boost solar energy adoption in Goa

In a significant move towards sustainable energy, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant officially launched the 'Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan,' an initiative aligned with the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. This new scheme is designed to enhance solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households in Goa to generate their own electricity.


Sawant highlighted that the Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a comprehensive scheme with a budget of Rs 75,021 crore, set to run until the fiscal year 2026-27. The program aims to increase the adoption of solar energy across India, reducing reliance on traditional power sources.


Under the Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan, with an initial investment of 35 Crore, In addition to the Central Financial Assistance, Goa Energy Development Agency will bear the balance cost of the Rooftop Installation up to 5kW for consumers consuming 400 or fewer units for the last one year.


Sawant encouraged all residential consumers to utilize this opportunity for zero electricity bills and contribute to a greener future.
