Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant convened a meeting of women police officers today to discuss strategies to curb crimes against women. The meeting, held on the first day of Navaratri at the police headquarters, focused on prevention while he applauded the detection of such crimes.

Addressing the media thereafter, the CM emphasized the need for proactive measures to stop crimes.

“There are detections but the focus must be on control. We sought suggestions from the women police officers on effective methods. They proposed creating awareness at individual, school, panchayat levels and providing support through family counselling centers for victims,” he said.

To enhance preparedness, the department has introduced special training programs on understanding and preventing violence against women. Senior women officers took the lead in designing these programs to sensitize female personnel.

Sawant applauded the women officers for their proactive efforts during festivals and their dedication to resolving cases.

Women police officers from the rank of Superintendent of Police to home guard attended the meeting along with Director General of Police Alok Kumar and Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh.
