World famous Colva beach played host to visitors -- both locals and domestic tourists -- as the beach came alive, with many a young and old descending on the beach on Sunday.

Perhaps for the first time in months, after the first Covid-19 pandemic lockdown came into force on March 22 last, one could find visitors thronging the iconic beach in large numbers on Sunday. Locals pointed out that visitors to the beach used to come in trickles during and after the lockdown, but Sunday saw a significant number of visitors descending on the beach.

While many an enthusiastic swimmer ventured out in the choppy waters for a swim, the beach played host to a makeshift cricket pitch, as youngsters tested their cricketing skills.

Amongst the crowd were seen domestic tourists, indicating that the desi visitors have started visiting the beach belt, but in trickles.

As usual, the beach also played host to stray dogs, with a number of strays seen around. Locals point out that this is the first time in recent months that Colva beach came alive post-lockdown.

Some of the popular restaurants at Colva have also reopened after the lockdown by observing social distancing norms.
