Colva police solve Rs 3.60 lakh theft case at Varca resort

MARGAO: The Colva police have resolved the Rs 3.60 lakh theft case that occurred in a starred resort at Varca on February 2.

A native of Pune, Maharashtra Kashinath Naik had complained to the Colva police stating that on February 2 between 17:45 hrs to 19:45 hrs, at a starred resort, unknown accused person effected entry into the Hotel room No. 1114 where complainant's son and his wife were staying, by break opening the balcony door and thereafter committed theft of a gold chain with cross pendent weighing Approx 35 grams, 1 gold ring with American Diamonds 7 gram and one Plain Gold ring approx. 3 grams, silver ring, and cash of Rs. 2700, all worth Rs 3.60 lakh.

During the course of investigation, while monitoring CCTV footage of the hotel, it was seen that on February 2 at around 19.18 hrs one unknown person was seen moving suspiciously near the room of the complainant and at around 19.30 hrs, moving out of the place.

Enquiry conducted with the hotel staff revealed that the person was neither a guest nor a hotel staff. Upon further enquiry with the staff, it is revealed that said person is seen identical to one of the accused person earlier involved in Colva PS Crime.

SP, South Tikam Singh Verna said the police with the help of technical surveillances and call monitoring cell, apprehended the accused persons namely Kasim s/o Fayaz r/o 1-39 Bangla Gudde, Kunkundoor, Udupi, Karnataka presently staying at Cavelossim as the suspect.

During the interrogation the police found yellow metal ornaments such as gold chain with cross pendant, one yellow metal finger ring with white stone diamond, one silver finger ring with one stone, cash of Rs. 6,560, comprising of the stolen property in the crime.

The Colva police is interrogating the accused for his involvement in other property offences.
