Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said his government was committed to creating jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities for the youth in the private and public sectors.

He was addressing the Skill Development Programme 'Skill India- Be A Professional' organised by Padmini Foundation at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali.

The Chief Minister said that multiple academic avenues for skill upgradation are being developed.

He added that the government college at Sankhali is affiliated to the Indira Gandhi National Open University and the NRI Commission was also collaborating abroad for employment opportunities for Goan youth.

“The private sector offers multiple avenues to the youth, providing them with extensive opportunities towards a successful and a bright future. We are developing multiple academic avenues for skill upgradation,” said Sawant.

“The Sankhali College has been affiliated with IGNOU. The NRI Commission is also collaborating with foreign countries for employment opportunities for Goan Youth.”

The chief minister informed that this is the first of its kind programme and the government hopes to conduct such events all over the State for the benefit of the youth.

“The aim behind this event is to create awareness among the youth to use their education not only to get government jobs but also to become good professionals and create employment opportunities for others.”

"Today, there are many opportunities in Goa, but educated youths of Goa prefer to sit at home and wait for government jobs, while the youth of other states are taking employment opportunities in many professional fields," said Sawant.

On the occasion, he felicitated the graduate students on their success and wished them a bright future.

"We are committed to creating employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for the youth in government as well as the private sector. The private sector offers multiple avenues for the youth, providing them with extensive opportunities for a successful and bright future," Sawant stated in a series of tweets after addressing the programme.
