Speaking to media persons, Parrikar said, “First and foremost, I’ve got very little time so I will not be able to include everything in the budget. However, some of the policy decisions will be indicated. The budget will focus on maximum delivery with minimum ‘pinch’ to the common man.”
He also informed that the budget has been drafted considering concerns of the people and requirements of the State.
Parrikar also said that he has asked the police to crack down on drug trade and also late night parties in the State. Additionally, he has also asked them to remove encroachments along the highways.
“We have given clear instructions to the police to crack down on drugs, late night parties where drugs are supplied. I have also asked them to clear encroachments along the roads except the local vegetable sellers, if they are not obstructing vehicular movement,” he said.
Warning government servants against lethargic behaviour, Parrikar said that strict action would be initiated against those neglecting duties and indulged in wrong practices.
“We are aware that there is some lethargy in the departments. So I can only say that in the next 7-8 days they (government servants) should correct themselves. After that if someone is found to be coming late, and is found indulging in wrong practices, strict action would be initiated,” he warned. He also said that incidents of crime against women would be dealt with very seriously.
“Crimes against women have to be investigated even in case of smallest incidents. There should be strict
action in crimes against women,” he said.
