South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes has said the Congress has extended full support to the government to take all possible measures to protect the interest of the country and its people in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Participating in the candle light protest at the historic Lohia Maidan on Friday organised by the South Goa district Congress Committee, the MP said this is not a time to criticise anyone though there have been many shortcomings. “We want to thank the armed forces for operating in difficult circumstances. I was in the armed forces and I know how difficult it is to operate with less number,” he said. Extending condolences to the families of the deceased, he said, “We hope and pray that such things don’t happen again.”
Condemning the terror attack, Congress Working Committee member Girish Chodankar said the time has come for the people to remain united when terrorists are trying to divide the people by killing innocent people.
Saying that the Congress high command has directed the district Congress committees across the country to hold condolence meetings, Girish said the government should pay attention on the recruitment of manpower in the armed forces.
