Cong leaders detained over protest against Adani Group, released later

Several Congress leaders were detained by the Panaji police for staging a protest march to Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula on Wednesday condemning the Adani Group’s alleged indictment in the United States and Union government of shielding the company.

The protest, led by Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao and Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar demanded transparency and accountability from the government over the allegations against the Adani Group. The Panaji police detained the leaders and took them to the police station only to be released soon thereafter.

The party leaders reiterated its demand for an independent inquiry into the allegations and criticised the government’s silence on the issue.
