Congress party leaders and its rank and file are keeping their fingers crossed over the leadership tangle as All India Congress Committee (AICC) Goa desk in-charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao is arriving in the state on Monday, followed by the visit of Congress election observer for Goa P Chidambaram scheduled on August 25.
On the eve of the visit of the party central leaders, questions are doing the rounds in Congress whether the high command will maintain status quo or will replace incumbent GPCC Chief Girish Chodankar to resolve the leadership tangle.
Questions are also being asked in party circles whether the party leadership will go in for a working president from the minority community to keep the party core voter base in good humour if the party decides to retain the GPCC Chief and Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat to lead the party in 2022.
Dinesh Gundu Rao, who will be arriving in the state on Monday morning, is expected to resume his itinerary in South Goa, beginning from Monday ahead of the visit of Congress election observer for Goa P Chidambaram scheduled on August 25.
The Goa desk in-charge is returning to Goa over a fortnight after he had cut short his visit to the state. Sources in the know further informed that both Dinesh Gundu Rao and P Chidambaram will stay in the national capital and will also interact with party leaders.
Sources in the know informed that Dinesh Gundu will visit the Canacona and Quepem Congress blocks on Monday evening and interact with the party workers, He is expected to visit the Sanguem and Curchorem blocks on Tuesday.
The arrival of the two Congress central observers assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of reports that the party emissaries sent to Goa had a meeting last week to discuss the issues facing the party in Goa.
