PANAJI:

Amidst the ongoing jobs-for-cash scandal, the Congress on Wednesday demanded a 'white paper' on all recruitments done since 2019 in a communique issued by the All India Congress Committee's (AICC) Communication Department from its national headquarters in Delhi.

The communique said the party leaders -- AICC secretary Alok Sharma and former GPCC chief Girish Chodankar -- held a press conference at the party headquarters and also demanded a probe by a high-powered committee under the supervision of a retired High Court judge.

Sharma and Chodankar also alleged that top officials of the BJP in Goa were involved and the investigation must be independent to bring out the truth.

Chodankar also said that amidst the job scandal, another scam seems to be in the offing where certain top government officials are claiming retirement benefits over and above their entitlement.

Chodankar said, he has filed a complaint before the current Chief Secretary Dr V Candavelou, IAS, against former State CIC Prashant S P Tendolkar for falsely claiming benefits of pension under Supreme Court Judges Act and Gratuity to which he is not entitled.
