PANAJI: The Congress party has threatened pan-Goa protests if the State government does not appoint a judicial commission to investigate the jobs-for-cash scam. The Opposition has set a deadline of Monday as its leaders alleged that high-profile politicians are implicated in the scam.
Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao criticized the government’s handling of the situation equating it to circus.
"This government is like a circus, with each minister acting independently as if they were the Chief Minister. The administration has failed, and CM's silence to our demand for a judicial inquiry is shocking," he said.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar said they are prepared to rally citizens in protest if their demands are not met. “If the government fails to take action, we will not hesitate to take this issue to the streets,” Patkar said.
Alemao also encouraged citizens to file complaints if they are victims of such fraud assuring Congress’ support.
Congress leader Ramakant Khalap likened the scam to a “cancer, devouring people,” calling for an independent SIT to handle the probe and suggesting that some individuals should undergo narco tests to reveal the truth.
