The Porvorim Police Traffic Cell has directed the contractor constructing the Porvorim Elevated Corridor to fill potholes and resurface the road dug for widening purposes including hotmixing of the road before the Exposition begins, so that commuters do not face any hardships.

Porvorim Traffic Cell Police Inspector Sanji Kandolkar said Superintendent of Traffic (Police) Prabhodh Sirvoikar, DySP (Traffic) Sudesh Narvekar and a PWD assistant engineer inspected the ongoing work of the Porvorim Elevated Corridor on Wednesday evening.

The joint inspection of the NH66 at Porvorim along with PWD officials and contractor of Elevated Corridor was held to identify critical issues impacting traffic flow and overall condition of road in the area and to discuss actionable plans for road improvements.

“Police officials instructed the contractor to fill potholes on the Porvorim road and hotmix the road to make it roadworthy as early as possible. The contractor has been advised to undertake this repair work after 10 pm, so that traffic is not disrupted,” said PI Kandolkar.

PI Kandolkar further mentioned that the Porvorim–Socorro road has been widened for the construction work of the Porvorim Elevated Corridor.

“During the Exposition at Old Goa, movement of traffic is likely to be increased immensely. Keeping this in mind, the contractor has been advised to resurface the road and hotmix it before the start of the Exposition. The contractor has also been advised to place barricades and erect new signages with reflective material at critical places to ensure smooth movement of vehicular traffic,” said Kandolkar.
