Murder due to demand for dowry is not the only angle the Cuncolim police is investigating to ascertain the exact cause behind the death of 17-year old Diksha Gangawar.

In fact, the Cuncolim police is planning to summon Chennai-based woman to unravel the mystery behind Diksha’s death and to find out whether extra-marital relations had anything to do with the gruesome murder of the young native of Lucknow.

The police have also decided to get call details of the mobile phone of 29-year-old accused Gaurav Katiyar to find out whether the woman from Chennai had called up the accused when the husband-wife duo was at the Rajbagh beach on January 19 evening.

“The police is investigating into all angles to establish the motive behind Diksha’s murder. We will  get to know through the call details the number of calls the woman from Chennai had made to the accused husband. We are also thinking of summoning the woman from Chennai to join in the investigations”, police sources said.

As far as dowry death is concerned, the police said nothing is being ruled out at this moment, but hastened to add that the relatives of the deceased will have to establish that the deceased faced harassment from the accused on account of dowry preceding her death.

“Our preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused husband must have stayed together with the wife may be for a few days since their marriage last year. The family will have to assist the police in establishing that the deceased was meted out harassment on account of dowry demand, culminating in her murder on January 19”, sources said.

Meanwhile, women’s right activist Auda Viegas has written to the police to investigate in the claims made by the relatives of the deceased that Diksha was done to death over demand for dowry.
