MARGAO
The South Goa Sessions Court on Monday denied interim relief to Fr Bolmax Pereira by way of direction to the police not to arrest him pending disposal of his anticipatory bail application before the Court.
When the anticipatory bail application filed by Fr Bolmax came up for hearing before the Court on Monday morning, the Public prosecutor sought time on behalf of the Vasco police to file the reply to the anticipatory bail plea filed by the Priest, promising to file the plea on Tuesday morning.
When the Court granted the Public prosecutor’s plea allowing the police to file the reply on Tuesday, the lawyer representing Fr Bolmax made an oral submission before the Court to grant interim relief to the Priest that he should not be arrested pending disposal of the anticipatory bail plea, but the Judge denied him the interim relief.
In his anticipatory bail application, Fr Bolmax had prayed that pending hearing and disposal of his application, to grant interim protection thereby directing the police not to arrest or take any coercive steps against him.
Fr Bolmax had on Saturday moved the South Goa Sessions Court after the Vasco police on late Friday registered a FIR against him for his comments on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
