Cuncolim police   attach 16 trucks,  two JCB machines

The trucks and JCB machines attached by the Cuncolim police and parked at the Cuncolim police station premises.

In a raid conducted late Tuesday night, the Cuncolim police has attached 16 trucks and two JCB machines from Hodden area in Balli village on the allegations of illegal hill cutting.

Police sources said the illegal hill cutting was resorted to for land filling for the construction of a highway road.

The attached trucks and machines were stationed at the Cuncolim police station premises.

The action come following information received from the authorities that large scale illegal hill cutting at Hodden area of Balli village. Accordingly, the Cuncolim police acted on the information and attached the 16 trucks and the two JCB machines from the spot. The authorities had also deputed a Joint Mamlatdar to act as an executive magistrate during the operation.

When contacted, Cuncolim police station in-charge, PI Diogo Gracias informed that the vehicles were attached following information from the authorities that the machinery was engaged in illegal hill cutting for a highway road.

He said the Cuncolim police is waiting for the Town and Country Planning department to official file a technical report in order to register a FIR against the owners of the JCB and the trucks.

Further investigation is underway.
